Snow Trillium Flowers

I found this group of snow trilliums in full bloom about a week ago in eastern Iowa. It has been a busy week so I am finally getting around to posting it. This is the first trillium to bloom each year and its white flowers can be found blooming along side hepatica. Not far away, spring beauty was about getting started, but still in the very early stages.

The contrast of these flowers with the ground is beautiful. They look so great, clean and fresh!

Thanks. Actually they seem a bit washed out to me. I need to work on it some more. Like I said in my post, it was a busy week and I have let my photography take a back seat for about 9 days. I had to finish up some other stuff but now I am back to work on photos. (I set my options so that I would review comments before they are published because someone has been posting offensive garbage on my site. I would gladly give you permission to post anytime without "approval" but I am not sure if that is an option.) Thanks again for your comment.

I stumbled accross you blog via the "view next blog" button and found a picture of my favorite flower. (Trilium) Great pic, makes me want to get a camera and start snapping away.

Thanks Sylvan Dragon, I love trilliums also. I have lots of shots. If you check Carolwolfe.org you can find more. Or surf "Carol Wolfe Photography." I am heading to the Smokies this weekend to meet some friends and attend the 60th annual wildflower pilgrimage. I will do two presentations and will be selling photos. It's lots of fun to be surrounded by so many people who love wildflowers as much as I do. I just posted one more trillium on page. Maybe you can check it out. It is YELLOW TRILLIUM and I have only seen it in the Smokies.

I was out in the Iowa woods today, March 27, 2011 and took a picture of snow trilliums, not knowing what they were. A google image search turned up your pics, which put mine to shame! Thanks for the plant id.

Anonymous,
Thanks for your comment. Sorry it took so long for me to "approve" it but I was out of town and unable to access this website. Sometimes I go out of town for a couple weeks at a time and am unable to get on line due to being "out of range." I also saw some snow trilliums this year, just last week, and it was really nice! I love those flowers.
Thanks for your kind comment about my pictures. It took years of work to get to the point where I am now! And still I want to be better!
